J.E. Brand: Book Festival & More!

The Starving Author

J.E. Brand

A book festival is like that spark of recognition writ large, as readers from all over get downright giddy when they discover that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of other people who share their passion for a great book.

My First Book Fest

I spent last Saturday with my fellow author/amazing sister selling our books at a local festival. She's not pictured for privacy reasons, because I am so excited we could do this together! As many you may know, she's the whole reason I'm an author, so I was beyond grateful to pass this milestone with her.

Going in, I tried to keep my expectation low... Like I gave myself a pep talk beforehand that selling just two books would be a success... But I'm proud to say that I sold 84% of the books I brought!!! And The Occult Invasion and The Dragonslayer's Redemption both sold out!!!

And then some small moments that felt like a different kind of success. For instance, the image of high schooler silently begging her mother for my books like "🥺" will now always stick with me. I also loved getting to engage with readers, discussing anything from what their latest book obsession is to how I was inspired to write my books!

Safe to say this was the first festival of many, because I already can't wait to do this all over again 🤩

PS I highly encourage you all to look up book festivals in your area to support local authors!!!

Before Root & Ruin

Aisling of Ashwood has seen her own death.

In a vision of blood and white flowers, she watched herself die in the arms of a man she hasn’t met yet—a man from the enemy clan that has waged war against her people for two brutal generations. She should be terrified. Instead, she goes looking for him.

Brennan of Thornhall is the heir to everything Aisling should hate. His father’s warriors have burned her villages and murdered her kin. But Brennan carries the crushing guilt of his bloodline’s cruelty, and when he meets a healer’s daughter with autumn fire in her hair and visions of peace in her eyes, he discovers something more dangerous than war: hope.
Their love is impossible. Their clans would kill them for it. But Aisling has seen a future where the bloodshed ends—and it requires them both, a sacred grove older than memory, and an oath sworn in blood and sealed in desire. What she hasn’t told Brennan is the rest of her vision: the peace they create will cost them everything.

In a world where the land itself is listening, two lovers will make a sacrifice that echoes through three generations—awakening a hunger that will bind their descendants to blood, desire, and oaths that endure beyond death.

This is where it all began. This is the love story that started the legend.

Wine & Smoke

Each soul must carve its path through blood and smoke. That’s the world our king has wrought.
When Kayn’s sanctuary is attacked, he fails to save those he loves. With his friend’s dying breath, he swears to find the one companion still missing. To keep that vow, he must step into the very world he once dreaded. And become strong enough to survive it.
His path collides with the noble houses, where lives burn away in smoke for a fleeting taste of power.
There, Malina, heir to one such house, would rather lose herself in books and wine than courtly games. But when an attempt on her life shatters her illusions, she’s forced to reach for power—or be consumed by it.
Whoever seeks power must bleed. Can Kayn and Malina escape this fate, or will they lose themselves in their pursuit?
A cruel story in an unforgiving world. Every choice is hard. Every deed carries a weight of moral ambiguity.

Romantic Fantasy

People always thought I was weird when I say my two favorite subjects in school were math and English; those aren't two normally paired together. So, you'll have to excuse my math nerd moment, but here's a fun fact: In 2025, romance print book sales rose 3.9% to nearly 44 million books in the US, with "romantasy" (romantic fantasy) acting as a major driver. To nobody's surprise, Rebecca Yarros's Onyx Storm was a top performer. But did you know she sold selling over 1.7 million copies, with its launch week seeing over 1 million sales?!?

So, I think it's a safe bet that at least one if not all of you are looking for your next book within the genre. Well, good news! You can browse 25 romantic fantasies here!

For those of you on a budget via KindleUnlimited, don't worry! I didn't forget about you! In fact, you can browse 150+ KU-available books here. You'll find so many amazing romance books within the paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi realm here!

Shh, It's a Secret!

You can tell what I've been reading lately, because my last promotion is also for some for romance with some paranormal, fantasy, sci-fi, or other-worldly element that's, you guessed it, a secret. Witches, vampires, aliens, orcs, monsters, mermaids, magical realism, shifters, etc.! To give you an idea what makes this different than the above promo, did you prefer the way magic was a secret in Belladonna Moon vs. the world knowing in The Witch's March? If so, browse for your next read here!
